Thursday Thirteen #2 - Places I'd Love to Go Back to Visit

Thursday Thirteen

13 Places I'd Love to Go Back to Visit

  1. Chattanooga, TNChattanooga, TN - I'd like to live in this area sometime in the near future. We discovered the charm of this city totally by accident and have been back several times. It is easy to walk around, the people are friendly, and there seems to be a never ending list of things to do. The climate and scenery are pretty terrific too!
  2.
  3. Newport, VTNewport, VT - I was born there and summered there as a child. The natural beauty and cool weather is just fantastic.
  4.
  5. Rochester, NY SkylineLilacs in Highland ParkRochester, NY - Try this in the spring during the Lilac festival, the smell is beyond belief. For a smaller city it has alot of history and some fabulous natural attractions.
  6.
  7. TorontoToronto, Cananda - Growing up in Western NY meant that trips to Canada happened pretty frequently. As a kid I loved Toronto because there was always something fun to do, and as I grew up I began to appreciate how clean, friendly, and safe it is. There is everything from shopping to hockey, fine dining to Hard Rock, city streets to country side. If you go try staying a little outside the city and use the subway, you will save a lot of money.
  8.
  9. New River GorgeBridge Over New River GorgeNew River Gorge, Fayette County, WV - When I move from Western NY to NW Georgia this was one of the places we drove through. We couldn't stop for long but did walk around the gorge lookout trail. Someday I will go back to do the whitewater rafting.
  10.
  11. Sunset on Lake WylieFireworks Over Lake WylieLake Wylie, SC - This was another stop on the NY to GA move and what a treat it was. We actually spent the night in NC; but it was the 4th of July and we were in search of fireworks. I saw the best display I have ever seen sitting on the bridge over Lake Wylie. If you get a chance to go there for the 4th I highly recommend it.
  12.
  13. Green Lake in Green LakesGreen Lakes, NY - This was a family favorite for camping, the lakes are spectacular and you can't really see the color in pictures you have to see it for yourself. It's a short drive into Syracuse too, just in case you crave some civilization while you camp.
  14.
  15. Falls at Letchworth State ParkLetchworth State Park, Castile, NY - This park was close enough to home a child that we often went here for family hikes. I also took several school, girl scout, and summer camp day trips. Mother nature at her best.
  16.
  17. Darien Lake State ParkDarien Lake Theme ParkDarien Lakes State Park, Darien Center, NY - This park is pretty and offers a convienent place to stay if you would like to visit the nearby Darien Lakes Theme Park.
  18.
  19. Hampton Beach at SunriseHampton Beach, NH - I spent one of the best summer vacations of my childhood here, the year E.T. came out. We stayed in a little beach house right near the water and ate fry dough for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I can't remember a single day where we ran out of things to do before we ran out of time.
  20.
  21. Lancaster FarmLitiz ShoppingLancaster County, PA - This area is a wild mix of modern civilization and old world. The Amish are polite and tolerant and the craftsmanship you see in their products is astounding. Try some of the smaller bed and breakfasts to get a better feel for the area.
  22.
  23. Disney WorldSea World OrlandoUniversal Studios OrlandoGreen Meadows Petting FarmKissimmee/St. Cloud, FL - Disneyworld, Seaworld, Universal Orlando, and Green Meadows Petting Farm, and a multitude of other attractions too numerous to name. If you can't find something to do here you are in big trouble.
  24.
  25. Grand CanyonGrand Canyon, AZ - I haven't been since I was just shy of 6 years old, but I can still remember thinking that it was amazing. I want to take my daughter there in a few years so that she to can see the wonder of nature and time.

  2. Toronto is on your list? I think it's one of my least favorite places I've gone. Great pic of the Grand Canyon. It is on my list of places I want to go.
    Happy T13!

  10. You've been to some amazing places. When you make it back to Toronto, be sure to stop at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Even if you're not a fan, it's a cool experience.

  11. I'm sorry - are we related? Or were you stalking me in my childhood? I spent 4 years in Rochester - I have very fond memories of the Lilac Festival. And their little tourism commerical jingl - "I'd Rather Be In Rochester....It's Got It!"

I've been to half the other places you mention too! We just got back from a vacation spent partly in Toronto. Their traffic sucks, and there was a city strike going on so the garbage was lying around for weeks, but they kept the touristy area pretty cleaned up and we had a great time.
